All eyes of the entire Paralympic community were on PyeongChang 2018, watching the Games with joy. With a surprisingly enthusiastic crowd cheering for the Team Korea, they earned one gold and two bronze ranked 16th at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympics Winter Games. Shin Eui-hyun won gold medal in men's 7.5km sitting cross-country skiing and bronze medal in 15km. Last bronze medal came from Para Ice hockey. Wheelchair curling team went to semi-final as a top ranker in the round robin session, but they ranked 4th losing to Team Canada in bronze medal event.
567 athletes from 49 different countries, the largest number of delegation since ever in Paralympic history, attended the PyeongChang 2018. Team Korea participated in 6 winter sports including Para Alpine Skiing, Para Biathlon, Para Cross-Country Skiing, Para Snowboard, Para Ice Hockey and Wheelchair Curling. To anyone eagerly waiting for the next Paralympics Winter Games, it will be held in Beijing. Let’s hope for Team Korea to write another chapter of history.
Sin Eui-hyun Becomes the First Korean to Win Gold
Para Nordic skier Sin Eui-hyun made history becoming the first Korean gold medalist in winter Paralympic while it is the first gold medal at the PyeongChang 2018. Before he earned the gold, he also secured bronze medal in the men's 15km sitting cross-country skiing.
Para Ice Hockey Team Won Historic Bronze Medal
Para Ice Hocky Team celebrated victory over Italy at the bronze medal event.
Jang Dong-shin scored winning goal, assisted by Jung Seung-hwan in third period, only 3 minutes remained on the clock.
